Editorial: El Artista Magazine
Issue IV of El Artista Magazine brings artists and readers from El Salvador into its content showcasing a country that has effectively managed the production of its artists both locally and internationally. Through their efforts projects and achievements we can all learn valuable lessons. The most visible outcome of this cultural management is the pride affection and admiration Salvadorans feel for their artists such as Benjamin Canas whose work is appreciated on a continental scale. Behind these accomplishments there are individuals like Rhina Aviles who have dedicated their lives to fostering artistic development as well as institutions that support their social projection as a factor of cultural identity and a vehicle for profound human aspirations. On the other side of the coin we find the great efforts and sacrifices made by Guatemalan draftsman Juan Francisco Yoc who works independently to maintain his connection with his culture and gain acceptance in a demanding environment like Madrid. Although successful this highlights the contrast with the social and institutional support enjoyed by Salvadoran artists as can be inferred from the exclusive interview granted to El Artista Magazine.Internally El Artista Magazine welcomes Dr. Silvia Herrera and artist Ricardo Silva as contributors prestigious professionals whose knowledge and experiences in the artistic field strengthen and enrich the aesthetic and ethical criteria prevailing in this publication. The success of these additions should be seen as an encouraging sign of the growing societal interest in the culture produced within their own country. Within this context El Artista Magazine is defining its mission as the medium that manifests and spreads the legitimate interest in art and artists from our nations.
