Although the sun was shining in the sky that day turned gray gray for Guatemalan art as it lost one of its most solid and remarkable creators and intellectuals. The passing of Roberto Cabrera on July 22nd of this year left a feeling of sadness a farewell without return. However this goodbye is not complete as there remains an enormous legacy in terms of his visual artwork anthropological research and countless writings that capture his thoughts analyses and reflections. As a meticulous researcher he always had his eyes focused on Guatemala. He intimately acquainted himself with indigenous communities particularly the Kaqchikel and Tzutujil. He delved into the wisdom they possess. His works in painting sculpture and printmaking are now pieces that form part of the countrys art history a land with its wonders and contradictions that did not leave him indifferent.
